Biography

Dr. George Francis is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences as well as the Department of Oncology, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. He completed his medical degree at the University of Alberta in 2011, as well as his specialty training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in 2016. He has also completed a clinical fellowship in cancer rehabilitation at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas in 2017. His clinical practice includes cancer rehabilitation, general rehabilitation inpatient consults, brain injury rehabilitation, and nerve conduction studies/electromyography.

Dr. Francis also has an interest in medical education at both the postgraduate and undergraduate levels and is actively involved in teaching residents and medical students at various levels. He has an interest in incorporating technology into education, continued professional development and humanist learning, where he hopes to inspire students to become engaged in learning throughout their careers. He is currently a Master Teacher in Undergraduate Medical Education, was the Competency-By-Design Lead for the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency program, and is now the Residency Program Director.
