Hotchkiss Brain Institute Strategic Research and Innovation Committee (SRIC) Booster Grant
Objective: The grant is meant to provide support to Institute laboratories, in order to keep them healthy and, in the end, ultimately assist in a successful funded major grant application.
Award value: Up to $100,000.
Eligibility: In order to apply for the grant, the applicant must:
- Be a full member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute.
- Be able to show the need for funds via declaring all current funding streams as well as the costs of their research.
- Have submitted at least one major grant funding application in the last two years and has not won the Booster Grant in the last 5 years
Submission: Applications must include the form (found below) as well as the following:
- A CV
- Budget
- Letter of explanation
- Agree to a mentorship Internal Peer Review
The completed application must be emailed to hbi.research@ucalgary.ca
Adjudication Process: Applications will be reviewed by the SRIC committee, who will consider all information and decide on an amount up to the max of $100,000.
If successful, the Principal Investigator will notify the office of the Associate Dean of Research and comply with their Internal Peer Review process and schedule. As well, any successful application will notify the Research Director (Chair of SRIC) if they receive a major research grant within 6 months of receiving the HBI funds. The Research Director and HBI Senior Operations Manager will then determine if any or all of the Booster Grant funds will be returned.
