RHISE Program – Faculty Research Visits

The Rebecca Hotchkiss International Scholar Exchange (RHISE) Program’s Faculty Research Visits was established to develop new interactions and strengthen those that already exist between the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI) and international centres of neuroscience research and training excellence. These visits are intended to augment the Faculty member’s research program in a way that could not be achieved in their home institution and provide a unique opportunity for collaboration.

Eligibility:                           

  • Visiting Scientist (all Faculty career levels)
    OR
  • HBI Full Member

Duration: Non-sabbatical research visits ranging from 1 week to 1 month in length

Terms:  All applicants must clearly define the desired outcomes and benefits of the proposed exchange to the HBI’s research and education programs and goals. For expenses to be approved, at the end of each exchange a two page report will be required summarizing the tangible benefits and highlighting key interactions.

  • Research visits can only be held once every three years per applicant
  • The date of travel must occur within six months of funding being awarded
  • Applications will not be considered retrospectively
  • Receipts for all expenses must be submitted within one month of the completion of travel

# visits available:  2 per year; first come first served

Citizenship:  Unrestricted, but applicants are responsible for the attainment of an appropriate visa

Where Tenable:                
At the HBI for visiting scientists and any institution outside of North America with a strong neuroscience component for HBI full members

Apply:                              

  • Applications may be submitted at any time of the year, but must be received a minimum of four months prior to the proposed visit.

  • All applications will be adjudicated by the HBI International Strategy Committee based on the merit of the candidate and the strength of their application
