T. Boone Pickens Emerging Leaders Graduate Scholarship
This award reflects the commitment of the T. Boone Pickens Estate to education and training the next generation of research leaders in brain and mental health. This award will allow the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI) to support recruitment of outstanding graduate students to innovative, foundational and translational research training programs through the offer of highly competitive scholarships.
Eligibility: Open to students (Masters/PhD) who are registered in a full-time graduate program in the faculty of Graduate Studies, and under the supervision of a full member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI). If co-supervised, the primary supervisor must be a full member of the HBI. The award is only to application made prior to or within 9 months of commencement of Graduate program. Or within nine months of transferring from the MSc to PhD programs.
Value: $15,000/MSc; $25,000/PhD
Number of Awards: Variable dependent on budget
Duration: Two years, subject to annual review
Terms: This scholarship will be matched each year by an expected amount from the recipient’s supervisor, which will be noted in the award letter.
Students holding this award are expected to apply for external awards or grants for which they are eligible, including those from provincial or national agencies. Students that are successful will need to inform HBI of any other external supports they received during the tenure of this award.
Renewal is contingent upon internal review of, and application for external scholarships, annual review of progress (including participation in HBI academic activities) and signed by the supervisor acknowledging satisfactory progress under the terms of the award.
Students must be able to take up funding within 6 months of the application deadline date.
