Hotchkiss Brain Institute Award for Teaching
Objective: This award is designed to recognize the educational contribution of HBI members. The funds are used towards educational support to allow members to focus on other academic matters or to improve their educational methods for the upcoming semesters.
Value of the award: $10,000.00 award to be transferred to the home Department of the holder.
Number of awards per competition: 1 per competition
Eligibility: To be eligible applicants must:
- Be a Full Member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute
- Cannot have won this award in the last 5 years
- Be a junior faculty rank, with a rank no higher than Associate Professor
Award Submission: Award submissions should include the following:
- A one page report detailing their education activities in the previous 5 years within the University of Calgary
- Any supporting documentations such as:
- service to the HBI (committees, supervision, etc),
- stating the need or plan for the semester off,
- any relevant information that strengthens the submission such as list of relevant awards or funding.
- Approval by the Department Head of the applicant

Adjudication: Award submissions will be reviewed and adjudication by the Senior Leadership committee of the HBI. Preference will be given to junior faculty.
Deadline: The award cycle will be open March 1st, and close May 15th, so that the offer of award can be made by June 30th.
