Biography

The knowledge-to-practice gap is one of the grand challenges in healthcare and social services. The focus of my research is on building transdisciplinary partnerships that bring together community providers and academic researchers with the goal of tackling real-world problems by situating research at the point of care

In 2023, I joined Hull Services to lead the development of a new program of research into childhood trauma as part of a partnership with the University of Calgary. Our research focuses on four areas:

  1. Child maltreatment prevention and early intervention
  2. Improving self-regulation with therapeutic recreation for families impacted by trauma
  3. Increasing the success rate of transitions in care for youth in the child welfare system
  4. Supporting the wellness and competency of the child welfare workforce

To perform this work, I leverage my diverse research background that incorporates biological, psychological and sociological perspectives because I believe a holistic approach is needed to heal the impact of intergenerational trauma on youth and families.
