Research activities
Dr. Zahra Goodarzi is an academic geriatrician. She completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at the University of Calgary. Most recently Dr. Goodarzi completed her Master of Science in Community Health Sciences specializing in Health Services Research. She is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Section of Geriatrics within the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Her major research interests involve knowledge translation and qualitative methods to improve the lives of older adults. Her specific methodological expertise is in synthesis and qualitative methods. Specifically focused on the cross section of mental illness and neurologic diseases. Her work has focused on depression and anxiety in those experiencing dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Goodarzi recently completed a fellowship in Advanced Synthesis Methods at the University of Toronto in the winter of 2016. Her current research is focused on how we identify anxiety in neurologic disorders as well as how we can effectively implement best practices clinically.
