My research interests focus on the use of novel tools in the assessment of suicidality and symptoms of mood disorders. My major focus is on the implementation of a novel instrument for the assessment of suicidality, the Suicide Ideation and Behavior Assessment Tool (SIBAT). Currently, I am in the process of conducting a study that aims to characterize the types of populations at-risk of suicide that are referred to psychiatry in the emergency department. In doing so, I believe that this will improve our understanding of the drivers of suicide in these different groups and improve our ability to provide effective interventions based on the patient's specific needs. Other projects I am currently involved in include the EMBER (Exploring Mental Health Barriers in Emergency Rooms) study, a study of methamphetamine intoxication management in emergency departments and the CANBIND study
